North Vermillion traveled to North Putnam on Tuesday night to face North Putnam and Southmont in what was anything but a normal week. With school canceled three straight days, multiple schedule changes, and two-hour delays mixed in, Tuesday’s meet marked the team’s first time back in the water since last Thursday. Despite the disruptions, the Falcons showed up and competed hard across the board. The boys opened the meet in the 200 Medley Relay, with Karsyn Wallace, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Kaleb Stambaugh placing 5th in a time of 3:02.63. Individually, Emery Strubinger continued to anchor the boys lineup, placing 4th in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:25.43 and later finishing 2nd in the 100 Backstroke at 1:12.65. Brady Dryer placed 5th in the 200 IM (3:17.70) and followed that with another 5th-place finish in the 500 Freestyle at 7:12.54. The sprint freestyle races featured strong Falcon performances on both sides. In the girls 50 Freestyle, Riley Smith placed 3rd with a time of 30.00, while Marki Chambliss finished 5th at 33.42. On the boys side, Austin Ball tied for 3rd in the 50 Freestyle with a 27.88, and Brandon Miller placed 5th at 28.28. Kaleb Stambaugh (36.19) and Karsyn Wallace (50.98) both recorded personal bests in the event. On the diving board, Chloe Doan turned in a strong night, placing 2nd with a score of 85.65. Marki Chambliss highlighted the girls’ individual events by winning the 100 Butterfly, touching first in 1:24.91. In the 100 Freestyle, Brandon Miller placed 4th with a time of 1:04.92, followed closely by Austin Ball in 5th at 1:05.35. Relay events rounded out the meet for North Vermillion. The boys 200 Freestyle Relay of Brandon Miller, Kaleb Stambaugh, Dylan Lamb, and Austin Ball placed 4th with a time of 2:11.47. In the 100 Backstroke, Riley Smith placed 3rd at 1:25.64, and Chloe Doan followed with a 4th-place finish at 1:39.27. The boys closed the night in the 400 Freestyle Relay, with Brandon Miller, Dylan Lamb, Brady Dryer, and Austin Ball placing 5th in 4:58.52. Considering the irregular week and limited pool time, the Falcons showed resilience and competitiveness throughout the night. North Vermillion will look to build on that effort as the season continues.
