Falcon Girls Wrap Season at IHSAA Sectional

The North Vermillion girls swim team closed out their 2026 season this past weekend at the IHSAA Sectional, with prelims held Thursday and finals contested Saturday. The Falcons turned in several strong performances to finish the year, highlighted by multiple finals qualifications and a major personal best swim. Riley Smith — Two Finals Appearances Junior Riley Smith qualified for Saturday finals in both of her individual events, earning second swims in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. • 50 Freestyle — 29.16 (Prelims) → 29.86 (Finals) — 16th Place • 100 Backstroke — 1:19.10 (Prelims) → 1:20.20 (Finals) — 16th Place Smith’s prelims swims secured her place in the finals session in two events and capped off a strong junior season. Marki Chambliss — Finals Scorer Sophomore Marki Chambliss also qualified for finals and contributed team points in the 100 Butterfly. • 100 Butterfly — 1:23.83 (Prelims) → 1:23.03 (Finals) — 11th Place — 6 Points Chambliss improved her time in finals and delivered a scoring performance for the Falcons. Taylor Norton — Major Personal Best Sophomore Taylor Norton recorded one of the team’s biggest time drops of the meet. • 100 Breaststroke — 1:48.81 (Prelims) Personal Best (previous: 1:51.02) — 2.21 second drop Her prelims swim marked a significant improvement and continued her growth late in the season. Chloe Doan — Sectional Competitor Junior Chloe Doan represented North Vermillion in the 100 Backstroke. • 100 Backstroke — 1:39.37 (Prelims) The sectional meet brings the girls season to a close. The Falcons showed steady progress throughout the winter, highlighted by finals qualifications, personal best swims, and continued development across the year.
